WesCEF recognises sustainability drives long-term business success and is fundamental to maintaining its social licence to operate. Ensuring the safety and wellbeing of team members, protecting the environment, and strengthening diversity and inclusion are key focus areas that underscore WesCEF’s operations.

The health and safety of WesCEF’s workforce is its highest priority. For the 2024 financial year, WesCEF’s total recordable injury frequency rate (TRIFR) reduced from 3.8 to 2.7.

Decarbonisation is one of WesCEF’s key sustainability commitments. Its Net Zero Roadmap includes an interim Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions reduction target of 30 per cent by the 2030 financial year, relative to a 2020 financial year baseline. During the 2024 financial year, WesCEF’s operational greenhouse gas emissions were 12.8 per cent below its baseline. WesCEF has progressed projects that underpin its 2030 financial year target and continues to collaborate with partners to explore opportunities beyond 2030.

Progress was also made this financial year towards WesCEF’s aspiration to achieve a more balanced gender workforce, with an increase in representation of women across the workforce from 36.8 per cent to 37.9 per cent.

WesCEF recognises the importance of engaging with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander suppliers to positively impact the Indigenous communities in which it operates. This financial year, WesCEF more than doubled its spend on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander suppliers to $5,162,512, up from $1,834,273 in the previous financial year.
