Collaboration at the heart of Indigenous electrical and instrumentation supplier
The WesCEF Indigenous Procurement Working Group was established in July 2022 to increase the number of Indigenous suppliers from its current portfolio, more than 50 businesses, and expand the type of goods and services provided. The Working Group established a framework to promote and engage Indigenous suppliers, with each business responsible for empowering their team members to seek appropriate Indigenous suppliers.
During the 2023 financial year, WesCEF established a relationship with Boodjara Pty Ltd (Boodjara), an Indigenous-owned company that is a Supply Nation certified, electrical and instrumentation business. Boodjara started by servicing CSBP’s sodium cyanide business with small electrical works, but with the help of the Working Group, its scope of works was extended to include CSBP’s ammonia and fertilisers businesses. WesCEF is now working with Boodjara for it to provide electrical and instrumentation services across the businesses.
The Working Group set an expenditure target to procure goods and services from Indigenous suppliers of $1 million in the 2023 financial year, which it exceeded, spending a total of $1,834,273. Targets for the 2024 financial year will include new procurement opportunities for Indigenous suppliers.
